General Terms and Conditions (GTC) Naturefriends House Grindelwald
In case of doubt, the German version of these GTC shall apply
The Naturefriend’s Hostel Grindelwald (NFHGW) is a branch of Naturfreundehaeuser AG (NFHAG). These General Terms and Conditions apply exclusively to all reservation enquiries and reservations at the
NF Hostel Grindelwald.
1. Cancellations and Re-bookings
Single travelers (up to 4 persons): Until 3 days before arrival free of charge, 2 days before arrival or no-show 100% of the invoice amount.
Groups (from 5 persons): From the 21st day before arrival cancellation charges of 20%, from the 7th day before arrival of 80% and from the 2nd day before arrival of 100% of the total package price are due.
We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance. The arrival date of the written declaration at the booking office is decisive for the calculation of the cancellation date.
2. Travel restrictions during the corona crisis
The travelers are obliged to inform themselves independently about valid current travel restrictions. If the guest (or group of guests) is unable to travel because it is not possible to leave his country or enter Switzerland, no cancellation costs are owed. The burden of proof for the travel restrictions lies with the guest (or group of guests).
If a guest (or group of guests) cannot arrive because he is under official quarantine or is ill, the cancellation conditions according to section 1 apply.
In the event of cancellations or rebookings due to the official cancellation of major events, the cancellation conditions in accordance with section 1 shall apply.
3. Liability for damages and responsibility
DThe claims must be asserted immediately, at the latest within 2 weeks after return, in writing to the NFHGW. The NFHGW is not liable to the guest if the non-fulfilment or improper fulfilment of the contract is due to the guest’s failures, to unforeseeable and unavoidable failures of third parties or to force majeure.
4. Use of the hotel rooms
The hotel room (including dormitory and holiday apartment) must be used and treated with the utmost care by the guest. It may only be used or occupied by the number of persons (including children) specified in the offer accepted by the guest. The guest is not permitted to let third parties use hotel rooms rented from the NFHGW.
The guest is liable for any damages, unless he can prove that they were caused without his fault (or the fault of other users). Damages are to be reported immediately to the NFHGW.
5. Data protection
For the NFHGW the protection of your privacy has high priority. We are anxious to guarantee you the highest level of data protection and security. The personal information collected during the booking process (e.g. name, e-mail address, etc.) is stored by both NFHGW and NFHAG and used for the correct processing of your reservation, booking and your stay in our Naturefriends’ Hostels as well as for customer surveys, advertising and statistics. Your personal details will be treated confidentially and will not be passed on to third parties. Your credit card details will not be stored. At the end of the booking process, they are transmitted and validated directly to the credit card companies via an encrypted connection
6. Luggage
The NFHGW is only liable for loss of or damage to items brought along in the event of intent or gross negligence on the part of its employees. As far as the NFHGW is responsible for third parties, it is only liable if there is fault. The liability of NFHGW is expressly limited to the services of the hotel liability insurance, any further liability is expressly excluded. The NFHGW accepts liability for valuables only if they are kept in the hotel safe or handed in at the reception desk against written confirmation. Any liability for damages caused by disruption or interruption of hotel operations or by force majeure, strike, riot, war, natural disasters, fire, etc. is excluded.
7. No liability for damage caused by pests in the lodging
Unfortunately, pests in accommodation (bedbugs and fleas) also occur in the Swiss hotel industry. To prevent or counteract pest infestation, the NFHGW works closely with a professional pest control company. Their instructions are strictly followed. Any liability of NFHGW for baggage, vehicle, or health care costs etc. in connection with pests is rejected.
8. Activities offered
Some packages include outdoor activities, such as hikes (difficulty level T1 to T3), snowshoe tours (difficulty level WT1 to WT2).
Additional travel costs such as cable cars, mountain railways or lifts are not included.
The NFHGW does not rent out equipment. For participation in hikes we require adequate equipment: high hiking/mountaineering boots with a good profile, daypack, appropriate hiking clothes, rain and sun protection, tick protection, if necessary, trekking poles. For snowshoe tours additional snowshoes and cold protection.
Sure-footedness for difficulty up to a maximum of T2/T3 (mountain path) is required.
In case of bad weather, the hikes and tours are adapted to the possibilities or are omitted without substitution. The management will inform you as soon as possible of any changes to the program.
There is no claim to execution at the advertised location. The guest acknowledges the right of the management or the hiking guide to adapt the program to the respective conditions. Possible additional costs for the dislocation to an area are at the expense of the participant.
If an event must be adapted or cancelled due to external circumstances, if a guest leaves an event prematurely or if it must be excluded due to lack of equipment or personal requirements, there is no right to a refund.
There are special dangers inherent in the mountains, which can only be minimized, but never completely excluded by our adapted behavior. By booking an outdoor activity, the participant expressly acknowledges the existence of such higher risks and dangers; if not, he/she must refrain from participating.
The participant releases the NFHGW from any liability claims for damages resulting from the above-mentioned hikes and snowshoe tours, as far as they were not caused by gross negligence or intention.
Participants in an outdoor activity are responsible for their own accident and health insurance. We also recommend joining the REGA (air rescue).
9. Place of jurisdiction
All contracts concluded with the NFHGW under these General Terms and Conditions shall be governed exclusively by Swiss law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for any disputes arising from such contracts shall be Grindelwald.
