General Terms and Conditions (GTC) NF Hostel Grindelwald
In case of doubt, the German version of these GTC shall apply
The Naturefriend’s Hostel Grindelwald (NFHGW) is operated by the Naturfreundehaus Grindelwald GmbH. These General Terms and Conditions apply exclusively to all reservation enquiries and reservations at the NF Hostel Grindelwald. The house rules are part of these GTC.
1. Conclusion of contract (reservation confirmation) and payment
The contract is concluded directly and exclusively between the booking person (guest) and NFHGW. This is usually done via a reservation confirmation. If a written contract is requested, it must be signed and returned to NFHGW within 5 days of receipt. Otherwise, the reservation becomes invalid.
The overnight price confirmed by the NFHGW including additional services (e.g. parking, meals) and visitor’s tax must be paid by the guest at the NFHGW upon check-in. Consumptions during the stay are to be paid at check-out. NFHGW reserves the right to charge the guest for any subsequent consumption. For this purpose, the hostel uses the payment method indicated by the guest.
The NFHGW is entitled to charge a surcharge for empty beds in the booked room.
The binding prices of our services are published on our own internet pages.
2. Prepayment
NFHGW is entitled to demand advance payment to secure the booking. If an advance payment is required, it must be made by the specified expiration date. NFHGW is authorized to charge a deposit on the credit card as a precaution.
3. Cancellations and Rebookings
Cancellations and rebookings as well as reductions in the number of participants or length of stay are only valid if they are submitted to the NFHGW in writing. Cancellation costs are calculated according to the services booked (excluding fees). Depending on the size of the group, different cost consequences apply for the guest or group of guests:
Individuals and groups up to 9 persons
– Cancellation up to 5 days before arrival at no cost
– Cancellation 4 to 2 days before arrival 50%
– If canceled even later 100%
Groups of 10 persons or more
– For cancellations up to 6 months before arrival 20%
– Cancellation 6 to 5 months before arrival 40%
– Cancellation 5 to 4 months before arrival 60%
– Cancellation 4 to 3 months before arrival 80%
– If canceled even later 100%
Decisive for the calculation of the cancellation date is the arrival of the written declaration (18:00 h) at the NFHGW. This is only considered to have taken place when a corresponding confirmation has been received from NFHGW.
We recommend the conclusion of a cancellation costs insurance.
4. Early departure
If the guest leaves early, the NFHGW is entitled to charge 100% of the total booked services. The NFHGW will endeavor, in the event of an early departure, to re-allocate the services that have not been used. In this case the guest’s invoice will be reduced by the amount paid by these third parties for the cancelled services.
5. Travel restrictions due to external events
The travelers are obliged to inform themselves independently about current travel restrictions in force. If the guest (or group of guests) is unable to travel because it is not possible to leave his country or enter Switzerland, no cancellation costs are owed. The burden of proof for the travel restrictions lies with the guest (or group of guests).
In the case of cancellations or rebookings due to official interventions, the cancellation conditions according to section 3 shall apply.
6. Liability for damages and responsibility
Claims must be made in writing to the NFHGW immediately, at the latest within 2 weeks after return. NFHGW is not liable to the guest if the non-fulfillment or improper fulfillment of the contract is due to neglect on the part of the guest, unforeseeable and unavoidable neglect on the part of third parties or force majeure. NFHGW disclaims any liability for theft and damage to materials brought by guests, organizers, participants or third parties.
Damage caused by the guest, or his assistants or additional expenses caused by his behavior will be charged at replacement cost (new price plus procurement costs and labor). NFHGW does not have to prove fault on the part of the guest. Corresponding claims are to be settled within 14 days after invoicing. NFHGW is authorized to charge a deposit on the credit card as a precaution.
7. Use of the rooms
The assigned room (including beds in the dormitory) must be used and treated by the guest with the utmost care. It may only be used or occupied by the number of persons (including children) specified in the offer accepted by the guest. The guest is not allowed to give rooms rented from the NFHGW to third parties for use.
The guest is liable for any damages, unless he can prove that they occurred without his fault (or the fault of co-users). Damages are to be reported immediately to the NFHGW.
8. Data protection
For the NFHGW the protection of your privacy has high priority. We are anxious to guarantee you the highest level of data protection and security. The personal information collected during the booking process (e.g. name, e-mail address, etc.) is stored by NFHGW and used for the correct processing of your reservation, booking and your stay in our Naturefriends’ Hostel as well as for customer surveys, advertising and statistics. Your personal details will be treated confidentially and will not be passed on to third parties. Your credit card details will not be stored. At the end of the booking process, they are transmitted and validated directly to the credit card companies via an encrypted connection.
9. Luggage
The NFHGW is liable for loss or damage to items brought along only in the case of intent or gross negligence on the part of the employees. As far as the NFHGW is liable for third parties, it is only liable if there is fault. The liability of the NFHGW is expressly limited to the benefits of the business liability insurance, any further liability is expressly excluded. The NFHGW accepts liability for valuables only if they are kept in the hostel safe or handed in at the reception desk against written confirmation. Any liability for damages caused by disruption or interruption of hotel operations or by force majeure, strike, riot, war, natural events, fire, etc. is excluded.
10. No liability for damage caused by pests in the lodging
Pests in accommodation also occur in the Swiss Parahotellery. To prevent or counteract pest infestations, the NFHGW works closely with a professional pest control company. Their instructions are strictly followed. Any liability of the NFHGW for luggage, vehicle, or health costs etc. in connection with pests is rejected.
11. Pets
Pets may be taken only after consultation with the management. The owner must pay for any damage to the house caused by the animal. The NFHGW is authorized to charge a deposit on the credit card as a precaution.
12. Place of jurisdiction
All contracts concluded with the NFHGW under these General Terms and Conditions shall be governed exclusively by Swiss law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for any disputes arising from such contracts shall be Grindelwald.
